Donald Trump's trip to Mexico has not gone exactly as planned.
The Republican nominee was invited by Mexico's president for a meeting in Mexico City today.
However, immediately upon arriving at the airport the billionaire was arrested for promoting hate speech and is currently en route to a federal Mexican prison.
"I promise the Mexican people that this filthy gringo will be ass-raped daily," said Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, in a nationally televised address.
"No one insults our proud people."
In the notoriously byzantine Mexican legal system, Trump's case could take years to come to trial.
Meanwhile in Washington, RNC chairman Reince Priebus has tweeted out "given our nominee's current legal situation, the Republican Party will seek to make Mike Pence our new nominee. We wish Mr. Trump all the best."
The State Department, for its part, has so far not issued a condemnation of Trump's arrest. One high-ranking State Department official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, tells The Daily Currant "quite frankly, this isn't the worst thing in the world."
