7-Year-Old Girl Strip-Searched At Dallas-Ft. Worth Airport

Dec 30, 2013

2011_06_22_JA___TSAChildrenThe Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is under fire today for strip searching a 7-year-old girl at a Texas airport.

Monica Collins was preparing to take off with her family to Philadelphia from the Dallas-Ft. Worth International Airport when TSA agents boarded the airplane and told her parents that she was under suspicion of aiding a terrorist plot.

“They took Monica away without saying where they were taking her," explained Jacqueline Collins, the girl's mother, to local news station KTVT. "I turned around and she was just gone.

"I stopped putting my belt on and yelled to her Dad who was busy collecting all of our belongings. We panicked for 20 minutes before they finally returned her. She was crying with a lollipop in her hand and pants sagging.

"The agents said they didn't find anything, but they kept making snarky comments. I didn't understand what they were saying, but my husband couldn't control his anger."

According to fellow passengers, Mr. Collins proceeded to punch the lead TSA agent in his face and was subsequently tackled by surrounding agents. The mother started hitting the TSA personnel and both were then tasered multiple times.

The father was handcuffed and raised to his feet. The mother cried and embraced her daughter who began to scream. Steve Collins is charged with felony assault and being held on a $500,000 bond. If convicted, he faces two years in federal prison.

No Country for Young Kids

The TSA has long been criticized for its invasive searches of air travelers, especially those concerning senior citizens and children. Critics say that although robust security checks are necessary, a balance must be struck with civil liberties and privacy rights.

In 2011 the agency took steps to minimize pat downs of children by using scanning machines instead. Nevertheless, reports say that the practice still continues. Today's incident appears to be the first example of a full body cavity search, however.

In the midst of the year's busiest traveling season, TSA Executive Administrator John S. Pistole was quick to address the situation.

“We are currently reviewing the altercation between Mr. Collins and one of our TSA agents. We have depositions from all agents involved as well as video surveillance. At first glance, everything seems totally appropriate and above-board, but we'll see what the investigation reveals.

"I can say that we received a report from our friends at NSA that this young lady Googled the word photobomb on her iPhone just minutes before boarding the aircraft.

“Clearly she was planning on using her digital camera as some sort of weapon or detonation device. We had to make sure she wouldn't harm any fellow passengers.”

In contrast to Pistole's defense of his agency's actions, passengers on the flight in question were shocked and horrified by the day's events.

“I couldn't believe what I was seeing,” said Diane Bailey. “I have three children, all grown now. We never had to endure what parents have to endure now. I understand the fear of terrorism but how is molesting a seven year old girl and harassing her parents helping anything? I pray for that little girl every night.”

Mark Harris, a fellow Philadelphian and avid Eagles football fan summed it up: “If the guy can’t get his jollies off because the Cowboys can’t win in December, he needs to find a different outlet.”

    lol I love it

  • Joe from Maine

    Children are an obvious threat.

  • Patricia Taylor

would it be a better “satire” if the TSA agent were a Muslim? No, I guess not…that would make this too believable.

  • Reese

OMG…..for a second I forgot what website I was reading this on and I got sooo angry

  • PeedroPaula

    That makes no sense.

  • Daff White

Pretty sick, there are lots of photo programs out there. To take her away from her parents and not have a parent with her and do a full search on her is child molestation. I don’t blame the parents for getting upset and doing what they did. I hope the guards get fired and that searching children is stopped. The child will be scarred for life.

  • Dannymac

Devoid of common sense me thinks.

  • helski

yeah this is pretty much child abuse. who knows what could have happened. the parents should have been there if they really deemed it necessary to strip search her. disgusting. i understand the parents upset and anger completely.

  • red

What idiots, Seriously does no one high up know what a photobomb is lol. He deserved to be punched in the face, to allow this crap to go on and have a 7yr old child be taken away from her parents like a kidnapping and then strip searched is over the top! Anytime you wanna step in Obama. Feeling safe in the country is almost no longer an option.

  • Phil Francesco

I can’t blame the parents if it were me I would have decked him with a sucker punch before his cronies got there. The only way to stop this bulls**t is to make an example of these morons and fire them all

  • DoubleDipBandit

You can never be too safe when it comes to terrorism and terrorist. In this case, molesting this child and tasering her parents could have very well saved hundreds of lives. This story is commemoration of the grandness of our great government. Thank you TDC.

  • taylor vega

  • Hugh Williams

Have you ever been to this site before? All the stories at
this site are satire? In case you don’t know what satire means; all the stories
here are made up, aka. Not true!

  • texasaggie

These days how can you tell? Poe’s law and its corollary, you know?

  • kissmychub

I understand this is fake but it brings up a very real fear for us Americans. I swear if this happened to my daughter I would literally start killing TSA agents on the spot. I’m not joking.

  • kissmychub

Yes, but it hits too close to home. USA is about as “free” as North Korea these days.

  • Jeffrey John Gonzalez

The parents should be let out of prison. This is just bad policy for TSA, I would be punching all those bad people at TSA for this. I think I might start a fund to raise bail for the parents. I read the article three times and got more upset each time and the fourth time I read it I got even more upset. The parents should sue TSA.

  • Jeffrey John Gonzalez

It’s so funny that all the “smart people ” make fun of the people that don’t realize the story was fake or made up news. What in the f*ck do you smart people think Fox News or CNN is, or any other mainstream media for that matter. It’s almost all made up.

  • Baxter Ross

This could honestly be a real story

  • http://tsanewsblog.com/214/news/history-repeats-itself-with-tsas-strip-search-tactics/ Lisa Simeone

Indeed. Considering how many children — and people of all ages — have been abused by the TSA, it’s not that far fetched.

  • Snuffy

    Poe’s law in real life.

  • sweetolbob

For Kryin’ out loud ! Let all the outraged people go ahead and comment without correction. When the truth finally dawns on them, they’ll be so embarrassed that a lot of them will shut up.
Besides, their replies are letting The Currant authors that they’re doing a good job.

  • alnga

Well punching the guard in the face will never serve justice for me, I would drive his nose bone up into his brain and serve him notice that if he lives he will long remember to keep his hands of my little girl.. Who are these creeps and to remove her from her parents care is beyond the pale.

  • LittleHunches

The parents should sue TSA and the individual agents for sexual assault, child molestation, violating her civil right. Photobomb….really? She was certainly planning on detonating a bomb

  • LittleHunches

I think he was being sarcastic Sheldon
