Sarah Palin: ‘Convert Mexicans to Christianity’

Dec 10, 2014

palinhannitySarah Palin claimed today that the government should force Mexican immigrants to convert to Christianity.

In an interview with Fox News last night, the former Alaskan governor was asked about whether or not America should welcome the estimated 5 million illegal immigrants who will be legalized under President Obama’s immigration plan.

“America should only be for people who believe in Jesus,” she responded. “When George Washington and Abraham Lincoln founded this country, they made Christianity our official religion and I don’t see any reason to change that now.

“The Italians, Irish, and Germans came to the United States, and we converted them all. So why can’t we convert the Mexicans? If Obama is gonna let these folks in, he needs to get them to stop worshipping cactuses and start following the path of Christ.”

President Obama announced last month a sweeping plan to let some of the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants remain in the U.S. The largest portion of these immigrants have come from Mexico.

Republicans have criticized the plan over concerns it rewards law-breaking. But there is also a deeper concern on the right about how immigration fro Latin America changes the cultural composition of this country.

Yet although the United States and its southern neighbor have different languages, demographics, and cultures, they do share a common faith: Most of Mexico’s 122 million people belong to the Roman Catholic Church, the oldest branch of Christianity.

This fact was not lost upon host Sean Hannity, a staunch Catholic himself, who reminded Palin that most Mexicans share America’s belief in Jesus.

“Sean, you’re embarrassing yourself by saying that Mexicans worship Christ,” she responded. “Every time I see a Mexican praying they’re saying ‘Hey Zeus!’ I hate to break it to you, but Zeus is not a Christian god.”

Palin served as Alaska’s governor from 2006-2009. She was the Republican candidate for vice president in the 2008 elections.

I’m going to pass this around and see how many people believe it’s true.

  • brian schneider

    I’m sure there’ll be a few :)

  • Steve Bailey

Eiither she is truly and wholly stupid, or this is an “Onion” satire piece.

  • Guest

You didn’t read Sarah Palin’s “opinion”. You read a bogus story about Sarah Palin on a satire site. One of the many false stories about Sarah Palin withthat were designed to discredit her.

Sarah Palin was a sitting governor, and at that time, before the Obama campaign and their allies in the press spent months relentlessly smearing her good name, she had the highest approval ratings of any governor in the country.

Palin held progressively higher office; she has many years executive management experience at local, regional and state levels and has a history of being a reformer and taking on powerful interests for the benefit of ordinary people.

She was a fiscal conservative who made the largest veto cuts in Alaska history, reined in the reckless waste, cut her own expenses, sold the governor’s private jet, let the personal chef go, and put away billions of dollars in savings for Alaska for a rainy day.

She was a tough CEO who went toe to toe with the Big Oil companies and fought to get the best deal for Alaskans, the resource owners she represented.

Taking on corruption and crony capitalism has always been a cornerstone of Sarah Palin’s agenda; in Alaska she did take on the old-boy network — the oil companies and her own party .As oil and gas commissioner, Sarah Palin called out the unethical practices of members of her own party. As Governor, she sought to end the back room deals and improper relationships between oil companies and politicians.

And she did all of this as a woman from a modest background who was entirely self-made – without the benefit of a rich or influential father or husband. All of Sarah Palin’s success was due entirely to her own hard work and intelligence.

Is she stupid or a liar? I am betting on both, but that’s me.

    “stop worshipping cactuses” - LOL!

  • mcjenny

    LOL!

  • rickouellette

This is satire. However, if she were to replace the word “Mexican” with “Muslim” it would become meaningful and a good idea. One should adapt to the culture of the host country versus the latter adapting to the culture of the immigrant., What we need is leadership with enough backbone to make it happen. Good Luck America !!!

  • Kim Serrahn

    Seriously….. That’s too funny.

  • Petrucio14

You’re right, you are stupid and a liar. Don’t you get tired of being as naïve as an 8 year old?

  • Jum1801

I can’t tell who’s the bigger bunch of morons: The Daily Currant for so eagerly printing this
obvious parody (one of those stories that’s “just too good to check, eh,
guys?); or those doofuses who have been so quick to display their pathetic gullibility
by spreading it with such obvious ecstasy.

But I want to thank you all for the sheer entertainment you’ve given the internet at your own expense. Seldom are people so generous with their own reputations. But what is life without being able to laugh at someone else’s staggering credulity, eh? Thanks. It’s been priceless.

Ms. Palin, is that you? No couldn’t be - you’ve written something far too intelligent and legible to be her. My bad. Ms. Guest, if Ms. Palin was so darn good, and you feel this strongly, about the subject, why not show who you are? Why then is she no longer the governor of Alaska?

  • http://www.virtual-copy.com/ JC Torpey

No absolutely not real. It says so on the site’s About page, although you can’t tell by the way some people reply to the articles both on and off the site.

  • http://www.markvanbrenk.com M.j. van Brenk

“One should adapt to the culture of the host country versus the latter adapting to the culture of the immigrant.”

Yet there is not a single culture in the United States. The United States is a myriad of people practicing a myriad of faiths or none at all. It is a myriad of ethnicities, cultural groups, languages, etc.

“E pluribus unum” was our old national motto and means “Out of many, [there is] one”. This is the American “culture” as much as there is one. We are stronger when we are more diverse. Also, there is no reasonable expectation that anyone adapt to anything other than the law to become an American.

  • Ebenezer

I’m beginning to think that this website exists to show how truly gullible and brainless that Palinophobes are. Dumbasses.

  • Ebenezer

The simple truth is that Islam is incompatible with ANY culture on this earth.

  • http://www.markvanbrenk.com M.j. van Brenk

Except that Islam is practiced by people from really every culture around the earth.

  • Ebenezer

No. Islam is its own culture.

  • http://www.markvanbrenk.com M.j. van Brenk

That’s also factually inaccurate. Islam is a religion. It is deeply ingrained into several cultures; that of many Arabs, Persians, Pakistanis, etc, but it is not a culture in and of itself.

  • Ebenezer

And where are the Arab, Persian, and Pakistani Jews, Christians, Buddhists, Zoroastrians, Baha’is, etc. in those areas? Oppressed, murdered, enslaved, ethnically cleansed. At best they are second class citizens. Islam is not a religion, it is a complete socio-political system masquerading as a religion.

  • rickouellette

MJ What you say is true-this country was founded on Judeo christian principles not Islam. Good Luck America !!!

  • beckymex

Sorry, true story or not…she is a moron.

  • ANT

SHE HAD A ROMP WITH EX NBA PLAYER GLENN RICE , SHE GOT JUNGLE FEVER…..

  • Sane_Person

Sarah Palin was the Governor of a single congressional district and quit in the middle of her term to become a media personality.

  • Guest

you have got to be kidding, slow news day? in case it isn’t a joke, Misic

  • Mary G. Stone RN BS

slow news day and it has to be a joke, she could not be that ill informed but maybe… Please Mrs. Palin before you speak to America, get your facts straight.. your comments belong on Saturday Night live….

  • http://www.markvanbrenk.com M.j. van Brenk

rick, I said nothing of the sort that the United States was founded on Judaeo-Christian principles, because it was not.

  • http://www.markvanbrenk.com M.j. van Brenk

Are you implying that because some Muslims have oppressed and persecuted others that Islam is not a religion? If so, nothing could be further from the truth. Members of every major religion (including the ones you’ve cited) have oppressed others in keeping with their own interpretation of their scriptures. If, by that logic, Islam is not a religion then neither is Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, etc. Because some Muslims have aspirations toward totalitarian socio-political systems does not invalidate the religion practiced by more than a billion and a half who do not have such aspirations, anymore than Christianity or Judaism are invalidated because of extremists in their ranks.

  • Ebenezer

Please read carefully. Islam has a ‘religious’ component, but it exists only to justify and enable the coercive nature of Islam and suppress dissent. Of all the systems I mentioned, only Islam has a death penalty for leaving. If it were not forbidden by penalty of death to leave, that billion and a half figure would quickly dwindle. Who wants to live under a system that rules every facet of life from hygiene to criminal law? Not any rational person.

  • http://www.markvanbrenk.com M.j. van Brenk

Let’s step back to your other point that I would like you to answer. Do you hold the believe that because members of a religion may oppress others, that said religion is, in fact, not a religion? Please don’t walk away from the point.

  • http://www.markvanbrenk.com M.j. van Brenk

“only Islam has a death penalty for leaving. If it were not forbidden by penalty of death to leave”

Islam has no such penalty for simply no longer being Muslim. I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt on this one as it is an often-repeated lie that many fall for.

  • Ebenezer

Do you have a reading comprehension problem?

  • http://www.markvanbrenk.com M.j. van Brenk

I have no comprehension issues whatsoever. I am literate in several languages. Do you often resort to ad hominem attacks when your assertions are recognized as illogical?

  • Ebenezer

Show me how this is a lie. I must question what is your reason for being such a staunch defender of Islam. Are you a Muslim?

  • Ebenezer

That is not an ad hominem, it is a simple question which would explain your incapacity to understand what I have written.

  • http://www.markvanbrenk.com M.j. van Brenk

It is a lie because it is untrue. I cannot find you proof of something that does not exist. I am no staunch defender of Islam, nor am I a Muslim. I am a friend of many Muslims, a student of religion - many of them, including Islam - and find it necessary to speak against the myriad of false allegations and accusations against Islam and Muslims.

  • Ebenezer

    Then you have nothing.

  • http://www.markvanbrenk.com M.j. van Brenk

You mean that suggesting I lack the ability to understand what you’ve said is not an ad hominem? What is it then? I have clearly understood your statement and have challenged its lack of logic. I await your response to the question: If members of a religion oppress or persecute others, does that invalidate that religion?

  • http://www.markvanbrenk.com M.j. van Brenk

You state that Islam has a death penalty for no longer being a Muslim, when you know it is untrue. Expecting me to somehow disprove something that doesn’t exist is deriving an affirmative conclusion from a negative premise - a logical fallacy.

  • Ebenezer

Already answered. But if you insist… I can clarify for your limited understanding by restating: Islam is *not so much* a religion as a a complete socio-political system masquerading as a religion. None other controls its “adherents” in a like manner.

  • http://www.markvanbrenk.com M.j. van Brenk

That’s not an answer and you know it. Please, provide an answer to the question asked. I will restate it again for your recollection: If members of a religion oppress or persecute others, does that invalidate that religion? It is a simple question and dodging it does nothing to support your point.

  • Ebenezer

The Daily Currant does not want to approve my answer. Buh-bye.

  • Ebenezer

Yeh, I went to college too.

  • Ebenezer

Maybe you could check out the description of this site before shooting off your mouth.

  • Eric Youngstrom

Ohhh golly ya sure got me there bub! Have fun supporting the queen of quiters, and stupidity, and hate and … Well you get the picture …. Or maybe you are as stupid as she is.

  • Petrucio14

You’re the one who fell for an obvious fake. I can understand that you’re but-hurt, but don’t project your naiveté on others. You chose to believe it was true because it fit your paradigm. You wanted to believe that I was supporting Sarah Palin because I pointed out your obvious bias, and because of YOUR belief you want to assume I am as stupid as you want to make believe. Don’t you ever get tired of ginning up straw-men?

  • Editor

Is she a. Crazy b. Stupid c. On Drugs d. Paid by the Jews to act this way?

  • Editor

Last time I checked the only thing this bimbo liked about the Bible was the only chapter of it that was obviously inserted after the fact and doesn’t belong in the Bible, the Book of Esther, from which the Jews derive Purim and Haman’s Ears, not coincidently the date of our assault on Iraq. Jews run everything, when will White Christians wake up?

  • sudon’t

Don’t believe these Daily Currant deniers. Sarah is right on the money - most Mexicans are Catholic, a bizarre idol-worshipping cult, and obey the Pope in Rome. How can they ever be considered loyal to the US?
Although, it should be mentioned that some Mexicans are true Christians. At least, as far as anyone can tell with that strange way they talk a mile a minute. The language of God is English. That’s why the Bible is in English. We must demand everyone speak English!

  • Eric Youngstrom

Ohhh no my life is over…. Ohhh the tragedy to be punked on the internet, what will I do now?

  • mcjenny

Next time don’t be so willing to believe an outlandish story and call someone else “stupid or a liar”. Apparently, you are one of those two.

  • Graco Farrell

My father is from Mexico. an atheist , My Mother raised us Catholic. She is right. They worship the Virgin of Guadalupe like I used to. It is an abomination. Its a False story. the Spaniards made up to cover the killings of the indians of the land.
I am lucky since I was given the true word of God from an american Christian.

  • Eric Youngstrom

But Sarah Palin is stupid, and a liar, and a general run-of-the-mill politician….. So this story is not out of her wheelhouse, but hey you keep on keepin on buddy.

You are showing us all when people are wrong on the internet…. Bet your a spelling-nazi too!

  • Ebenezer

    Sieg Hiel!

  • Eric Youngstrom

Well shucks I am so sorry I believed that Sarah Palin was capable of things like this. I mean with her stellar track record and high minded quotes I must be a fool to believe she could be that ignorant and hateful. You really showed me there McJenny

  • richardgrabman

You mean the way in the 1840s, Americans demanded my Papist ancestors adopt Protestantism?

  • http://akanett.net/ Austin Akalanze

True. Islam is an impossible religion with impossible culture.

  • tomaf

So all Americans should dancing around fires, smoking peace pipes and living in teepees and wigwams? And carving arrowheads out of beer bottles?
