Jay Cutler To Chicago Bears: ‘Whatever, I Quit’

Dec 18, 2014

jaycutlerquitAfter being benched for the upcoming football game against the Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler told CSN Chicago, “Whatever, I quit.”

After a turbulent six years in Chicago, the ridiculed QB has decided to quit football to pursue other ventures. “If the team doesn’t want me, I don’t want them. It’s that simple,” Cutler said. “They can take their $85 million and shove it.”

Having already received his guaranteed $54 million on his $127 million deal, Cutler doesn’t need to play if he feels under appreciated. “I can sit on the bench from home like all the other fans who don’t know anything about playing football.”

A For Sale sign has already been placed outside of Cutler’s Lake Forest mansion. A Zillow search indicated the property is worth $8,745,000.

Backup quarterback Jimmy Clausen will make the start as Cutler would presumably be sitting on the bench. With his absence the Bears have been on the market for another quarterback to backup the backup.

Former Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre's name has come up according to inside sources. Favre's agent declined to comment on the potential deal which would result in the future Hall of Famer coming out of retirement. Bears general manager said, “We only need him to sit on the bench and sell some jerseys. Sounds like a win-win.”

It’s more likely the Bears will find another teams third string QB and cheaply buy out his contract. Dave Kaplan of CSN Chicago said, “Anyone they sign will be better than Cutler. Even as a back up sitting on the bench, anyone could sit there and do the job better.

“When it’s all set and done, at least the Cutler saga was better than Grossman.”

Hollywood Bound

With Cutler being married to former TV star Kristin Cavallari, the benched quarterback could have his eyes set on the glitz and glamour of Hollywood.

“I can act,” Cutler was reported saying two years ago at a star studded gala at the Getty Center in Los Angeles. The married couple also spend most of his football off season at their home in West Hollywood.

“There’s always life after football and acting seems easy enough. You get pampered and the whole Hollywood treatment. That’s the life for me; I just need to get through football,” Cutler told reporters that warm summer evening.
